What is more inspiring than the human body? Through our body language and facial expressions, we transmit information that would take pages if written down. Medical issues can cripple the body; bigotry can infect the viewer and mute the meaning. Yet, with our bodies we find healing, love, birth, God and even the devil.
Both a vehicle of expression and a vessel to entrap the soul, the human body is one of the strongest symbols of communication. Through the use of photographs, collage, mirrors and paint, the artists in this exhibit focus on the body as a mode of communication.

For one night only, Boston-based artists will be flexing their talent muscles in an all-out, no-holds-barred rumble for Battle Royale! (an art show). The viewing public will decide who will be victorious. Come see works inspired by violence and conflict; then, vote for your favorite artist. Only one proud winner will walk away with the Battle Royale! trophy.
Some of the contestants:
Stephanie Angelo
Folk-pop artist, Stephanie Angelo, utilizes hard-edge painting with wycinanki in conjunction with bright flat colors to confront viewers with forms and narratives.
Stephanie exhibits her work throughout the country. In addition, she has received a number of awards and has been published several times in Arthology Magazine as a featured artist.
Seth Diamond
Since early childhood, designer and entrepreneur, Seth Diamond, remained fascinated by the simplicity and ubiquity of traffic signs. He married this interest to a love of mid-20th centry industrial, graphic, and type design; and figured that apparel, accessories, and prints were the right place to put his artwork.
In 2003, Seth founded THOOMP!, an entrepreneurial and artistic venture, that would readily make his artwork accessible to the public. Seth's THOOMP! aesthetic is about taking a stand in today's colorless and conservative times, and he offers people countless ways to be unique, subversive, stylish, and downright sassy through his pop-culture designs.
Joe Kitsch
Under the brush-name, Joe Kitsch, this conceptually-oriented pop artist works in a wide variety of media, from acrylic on canvas to a multitude of store-bought and "self"-made objects. The language of eclectic postmodernism and the utilization of appropriation are used to focus on issues of being, identity, and social perceptions.
In addition to showing his work, he curates monthly thematic shows in his studio during SoWa First Fridays in Boston's South End.
